I've always dug the Gradius series. Being able to modify your vehicle/character as the game progresses in any shoot 'em up is always a good time. And since the Gradius series games let you do it on the fly in the middle of battling baddies - it makes for a fastpaced gameplay flow. This 3rd incarnation of Gradius is simply more of the same as in the original and the sequel, and sure enough it's just as fun. It's a little bit surreal at times with some of the level themes, and being able to select your own custom list of powerups before you start also rocks. A groovy spaceship-killing-aliens game.
